Round Numbers Down (Floor)

Paste a list of numbers and instantly floor-round each one down to the nearest whole number. Handles negatives, decimals, and large numbers correctly — all in your browser.

Numbers to round down

Enter one number per line — integers, decimals, or negatives.

Blank lines are skipped. Non-numeric lines are passed through unchanged. Everything runs locally in your browser — nothing is uploaded.

Floored resultsEach number rounded down to the nearest whole integer, one per line.

How to round numbers down

Floor-round in 3 steps

Takes ~5 seconds
  1. 1
    Paste your numbers

Enter one number per line in the input box — decimals, negatives, and integers all work.

  2. 2
    Click Round Numbers Down

Hit the button and every number is floor-rounded instantly using Math.floor.

  3. 3
    Copy the results

Copy the floored integers from the output box and use them wherever you need.

Remember: floor rounding on negatives goes toward negative infinity — -4.1 becomes -5, not -4.

Who should use this tool?

  • Developers needing quick floor-rounding without writing code
  • Data analysts cleaning up decimal values in spreadsheet columns
  • Students or educators checking floor math on a list of numbers

Floor rounding explained

Floor rounding always moves a number toward negative infinity — never just toward zero. That distinction matters most with negative numbers, where -4.1 floors to -5, not -4.

Use this round numbers down tool to apply floor rounding to any list of numbers in seconds. Powered by Math.floor, it correctly handles positive decimals, negative numbers, and already-whole integers. Paste your list, click once, and copy clean integer results — all processed locally in your browser with no data uploaded.

True floor rounding

Uses Math.floor — always rounds toward negative infinity, not just toward zero.

  • Correct negative handling
  • Decimals floored instantly
  • Already-whole numbers unchanged
Bulk processing

Paste an entire column of numbers and get every result at once.

  • One number per line
  • Any list length
  • Same order preserved
Resilient to messy data

Blank lines are skipped and non-numeric lines pass through without crashing.

  • Skips blank lines
  • Preserves invalid lines

Privacy first: we never send your input to a server. Everything runs locally in your browser.

Floor rounding tips

Keep your data clean for the most predictable results.

  • Remember that negative numbers floor toward negative infinity — -4.1 becomes -5, not -4.
  • Whole numbers like 5 or 5.0 are returned as-is since they are already at the floor.
  • If you need to round up instead, use the Round Numbers Up tool for ceiling rounding.

Frequently asked questions

Why does -4.1 round down to -5 instead of -4?>
Floor rounding always goes toward negative infinity. Since -5 is less than -4.1, -5 is the correct floor value. Rounding -4.1 to -4 would be ceiling rounding, not floor rounding.
What happens to a number that is already a whole number like 5 or 7.0?>
It is returned unchanged. Math.floor of an integer is the integer itself, so 5 stays 5 and 7.0 becomes 7.
How does this handle very large or very small negative numbers?>
JavaScript's Math.floor works correctly across the full safe integer range, so very large positives and very large negatives are floored accurately.
What if my list has labels or text mixed in with the numbers?>
Non-numeric lines are passed through to the output unchanged rather than causing an error, so your data structure stays intact and you can spot which lines were not numbers.
